Though there are rumors she may be opting out of this month's French Open, Venus Williams isn't just sitting pretty - she's looking pretty, too.
The 6-time Grand Slammer was a guest at last night's Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala saluting the power of "superheroes" imagery in fashion.

SIGHTING: Serena hits BAPESTORE opening, may need paramedic
Serena Williams was spotted at the opening of BAPESTORE in LA last night.
I think ReRe looks sexy + confident in this outfit though her jeans may actually be painted on her body. I mean, is she even breathing in these photos? Can she??

PHOTO OP: It's Maria's party...and she can get blasted if she wants to (now)

Maria "Shriek"apova's NYC birthday tour ended with a big bash thrown by sponsor Tag Heuer at Tenjune. Celebrity guests included Michelle Trachtenberg and Dave Annable of ABC's Brothers & Sisters, along with designers Vera Wang, Doo.Ri, Brian Wolk and Claude Morais of Ruffian, and the original bang-er Vogue editrix Anna Wintour.
Like any newly-minted 21-year old global celebrity athlete Maria danced, drank, and shrunk everyone in her presence.

UPDATE: Check out Tennis Week's look inside the party featuring interviews with Maria and fashion friend Vera Wang.

Jelena the Hollywood player, dines with Woody, Owen + Jennifer Aniston

It seems as though Hollywood is taking a liking to Jelena Jankovic.
Woody Harrelson + Owen Wilson were spotted in the stands on Saturday watching the Serb succumb to Serena Williams in the Miami final. Jelena made mention of the celebrities in the stands during her post-match conference and it looks like the two stars were listening.
According to her blog Jelena, Woody, Owen, + Jennifer Aniston all went out for dinner after the match:After the final was over, I got to meet actors Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson. They were accompanied with their producer since they are making a movie here in Miami. They came to watch the match and they seem to enjoy tennis. All of them invited me to have dinner with them so I accepted the invitation. They are really great individuals and I had a great laugh with them. They are outgoing and very natural which I really liked. I am very communicative and I like when others are like that as well.

And, it seems as though Jelena + Woody became very friendly over dinner. Maybe they'll get to spend time together now that her family is building a home in LA.

SIGHTING: More celebs take in Sony Ericsson Open

Hollywooders Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson were spotted watching Serena Williams win her fifth Miami title over Jelena Jankovic on Saturday and Nikolay Davydenko defeat Rafael Nadal in Miami, his second Masters Series win on Sunday. They join fellow celebs Terrell Owens and a lippy Brittany Murphy who also made an appearance at the tourney last week.

SIGHTING: Terrell gives A-Rod support, Brittany's career could use some

Andy Roddick's new card-playing BFF Terrell Owens was spotted in the stands again last night to watch him defeat Federer in the Miami Masters quaterfinals. Could Terrell have been the lucky charm for A-Rod? The Dallas Cowboy footballer told the press in Miami this week,He was really pressing, trying to get some wins in there instead of letting things flow [...] He’s on the cusp of really being that No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 guy. If he keeps pushing, letting the games come to him and try not to press so much during the matches, he’ll win. He just has to keep his focus.
Maybe. But I think getting his personal life together is playing a bigger role, which he eluded to in his post-match press conference:I knew [the engagement] was either going to go one way or the other. Either [it] was going to be the end of me or if I would have lost the first round, or the reason I beat Roger tonight. I think it's somewhere in the middle. I think being happy and content off the court is only going to help in my mind.
Interesting - maybe those two things are related.
B-list (or C?) celeb Brittany Murphy and some suspiciously over-pouty lips were also spotted in the stands for the match. Could she be milking the tourney as a PR opportunity for a flagging movie career? I hope her publicist told her the match was being broadcast on the bumbling FSN Network (read: no one's watching Brittany.)

BREAKING: Andy Roddick to marry Brooklyn Decker

It's official: Andy Roddick is marrying Brooklyn Decker! I had written about the engagement last Friday after receiving a tip from an anonymous source.
Now People.com is reporting today that A-Rod popped the questiom to his swimsuit model girlfriend last week:
It's love - love for Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker – they're engaged! The tennis star is officially off the market after popping the question to Decker last Tuesday, sources, including Decker's rep, confirm to PEOPLE.Thanks to the tipster for sending me the news - keep it comin'!
On Roddick's official Web site, andyroddick.com, a statement tells fans, "The couple wanted to tell their family and close friends first but good news travels fast. By the time Andy arrived in Miami for the Sony Ericsson Open, the tournament was bustling with the news."
The pair, who have been dating since 2007, first met after Roddick, 25, asked his agent to track down a number for Decker, 20, a model who has appeared in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.
"With their hectic travel schedules, Andy and Brooklyn plan to enjoy their engagement and will wait to set a wedding date," adds Roddick's online statement.

The ballers hit up the Sony Ericsson Open player party

The tennis ballers from both tours dropped their tennis racquets and hit the Sony Ericsson Open player party last night held at Opium in Miami Beach. James Blake, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Venus + Serena Williams, and Jelena Jankovic showed up for the festivities.
Also on hand were a spikey-haired Novak Djokovic (flirting with The Apprentice's Katrina Campins), Andy Roddick, and Maria "Shriek"apova.

THE LOW DOWN: Nole spotted at LA Lakers game - is there more to his "friendship" with Maria?

Proof is in the puddin': Remember how I wrote about how much time Novak Djokovic and Maria "Shriek"apova had been spending together before and during last week's Pacific Life Open?
Well, I was alerted to the above shot (thanks Elaine!) of the couple playing footsies during a break at Indian Wells and just stumbled upon this Nole interview - and guess where it takes place? At the LA Lakers game this past Sunday after he captured his first Indian Wells title, and where Maria was spotted hanging out with Camilla Belle.
Do you think they knew each other would be catching the same basketball game? Crazy!
Now I REALLY need to know what his girlfriend Jelena thinks of their "friendship."
Check out the interview:

SIGHTING: Serena hits up the Party Watch, steps out with Common
Caught in the act, again: Serena "ReRe" Williams was spotted leaving Villa Lounge in Beverly Hills with current boyfriend Common, and they're still looking as uncomfortable being seen together as they did the last time.
Do you think it's because the rapper is just "boyfriend insurance" for the tennis baller and she doesn't want to upset her other admirers?

SIGHTING: Venus + Serena hit up ESPN the Magazine's 10th Anniversary party

Venus + Serena Williams, who continue to boycott Indian Wells since being involved in a racially-charged incident in 2001, spent their off-time attending ESPN the Magazine's 10th Anniversary party held at Area in LA.
Though some (hilariously) think V is doing her best Whitney Houston these days, both she and ReRe look great dolled up in their jewel-toned dresses - a shift style for V and a sexy halter for ReRe.
Earlier this year, the sisters alos took part in a photoshoot for the 10th Anniversary of the mag.
Let's hope their appearance at the party means I was wrong and the magazine will increase coverage of tennis - that would give them a clear edge over Sports Illustrated's lackluster efforts.

SIGHTING: Sharapova walks red carpet for 10,000 BC premiere

Maria Sharapova was spotted on the red carpet last night for the world premiere of 10,000 BC, which stars her good friend actress Camilla Belle. In fact, the Russian fashionista blogged about the upcoming premiere on her site saying,I am really excited about this week.... it's finally Camilla's movie premier (sic) (10,000BC) and I can't wait to go and support her. Highly recommend to go see it on opening weekend!!

SIGHTING: A-Rod brings a little Brooklyn to Manhattan

Love is in the air: Thanks to our reader Suzanne for tipping us off to Andy Roddick and girlfriend Brooklyn Decker taking in some sights in New York yesterday. A-Rod is looking super-casual but blazing hot in his black skull cap, charcoal hooded wool coat, jeans, and trainers.
The pair began dating during last year's US Open when they were spotted eating at trendy eaterie Nobu; and last December the tennis baller (working a similar look) and swimsuit model were seen hand-in-hand strolling the streets of Gotham. A-Rod has been romantically linked to singer/actress Mandy Moore and fellow baller Maria "Shriek"apova as well.
Could the couple be here for a little Valentine's Day celebration in the big city?

SIGHTING: Shirtless Tsonga & Gasquet hit the clubs, get down with some go-go girls

The French do it better: We love the many ways the Frenchies celebrate their good fortunes. Aussie Open finalist Jo-Willy Tsonga and Richard Gasquet were spotted taking their shirts off and getting their party on with some go-go dancers at a club after their Davis Cup victory over Romania this past weekend.
Jo-Willy seems very much in his element, but Richard isn't as convincing - could he be trying to squash those pesky gay rumors once and for all? We'll give him an "A" for effort but, believe you me, it takes much more than some T & A to stop that gay train...

SIGHTING: Serena Party Watch in full effect for Grammy weekend

The Serena Party Watch was in overdrive this weekend for the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. The 8-time Grand Slam champion, who came down with a strange case of camera-shyness recently, switched out her tennis gear for party gowns and hairdos as she hit up Clive Davis' prestigious pre-Grammy party on Saturday (above) and then the Entertainment Weekly Grammy after-party honoring music industry heavyweight LA Reid on Sunday, spending time chatting up family friend Janet Jackson (below).
Thought we think she looks great at both events, we're loving ReRe's sexy look from the post-Grammy party - the shorter, sleeker bob-style hair and salmon halter dress is very flattering on the former World No. 1.

SIGHTING: Annoyed Anna Kournikova hits Miami gym, sports super-skinny look

Having you cake...now eat it: What's the deal with these notoriously camera-loving tennis ballers getting all shy for us now? First we spotted a clearly nervous + embarrassed Serena Williams being videotaped in the passenger seat of rumored boyfriend Common's SUV after a night out in Hollywood.
Now we find a super-skinny Anna Kournikova leaving her Miami gym looking annoyed by the paparazzi. We suppose fame is a double-edged sword, isn't it?

SIGHTING: Serena Williams hits Hollywood club scene, but doesn't go home alone

Moving on: Apparently Serena "ReRe" Williams broken heart is on the mend. The 8-time Grand Slam champ, who hit the quarterfinal skids at the Aussie Open last week, was spotted arriving at Hollywood club Hyde ready to party in a white waist-coat, cobalt blue dress, black patent tote, and peep-toe Christian Louboutin heels.
But the tennis fashionista didn't end the night alone: TMZ caught ReRe, with rumored boyfriend Common, in the passenger seat of his black SUV as they left club Villa the same evening.
Why does the camera-loving tennis star seem so nervous about being photographed with the hip-hop star?

SIGHTING: Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban take in the Aussie Open

Lending support: Soon-to-be mom and Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman was spotted with husband Keith Urban checking out countryman Lleyton Hewitt battle Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open Round of 16. Unfortunately, tennis' sexiest Serb took down Lleyton in straight sets 7-5, 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals where he'll face Spanish speedster David Ferrer.

PHOTO OP: The mystery of Maria Sharapova's mom is solved
Mystery mom: We don't know about you, but we've never seen the woman who gave us Maria "Shriek"apova. Rumor has it she doesn't enjoy watching Maria's matches and only likes to hear the scores afterwards.Well, ladies and gentlemen, from the "Maria Does the Holidays" photo series here she is...
Our first thought was, of course, where did she get her height from (jealous much?) Father Yuri is pretty short so we imagined her mom to be another 6' 2" Russian bombshell but, alas, we were wrong. Maria's even wearing ballerina flats and mom is in heels and she still doesn't come close to matching her height.
So one mystery is solved...onto the next...
